High blood pressure or hypertension is a medical condition where an increase in blood pressure is chronically in the long term. Hypertension, especially in teen may continue in adulthood and have an impact, among others, stroke, myocardial infarction, renal failure, heart failure, encephalopathy, seizures or even morbidity, and mortality is higher. The incidence of hypertension in teen from various studies reaches 2 percent to 5 percent. The research objective was to determine the most dominant risk factors that cause hypertension in teens aged 12-25 years, which consisted of age, gender, sodium intake, fat consumption, obesity, and physical activity. The design study using cross sectional method from The Basic Health Research data source in 2013. The study population is teens aged 12-25 years in Indonesia. Samples were teens aged 12-25 years in Indonesia were chosen as the respondent Basic Health Research in 2013 with the number of 6244 people. Results of research by multivariable analysis showed that the most dominant factor associated with hypertension in teens aged 12-25 years were obese (p value <0.0360). Teens aged 12-25 years were obese 9.17 time would be at risk to suffer from hypertension than non-obese teens. Age is also a factor associated with hypertension in teens (p value = 0.0001). Increased 1 year of age teens are at increased risk of
hypertension 1.25 times in teens aged 12 to 25 years.
