ANALISIS KOMPOSISI MAKRONUTRIEN DIET MAYO PADA PROGRAM PENURUNAN BERAT BADAN

ABSTRACT

The prevalence of obesity in the world is increasing rapidly. Effective nutritional guildlines for reducing obesity are urgently needed. Strategies for weight control have generally recommended the diet programs. Popular diets have become increasingly prevalent and controversial. Low calorie diets are an efficacious strategy for weight loss and the various macronutrition of diet focusing on carbohydrates, fat, and protein composition for weight loss still be debate. The aim was to analysis of macronutrient compotition at mayo diet catering in Surabaya for weight loss program. We conducted observational analysis of all foods in Kartikasari mayo diet catering in Surabaya. The program of mayo diet was 13 days and the packaged foods were provided at 1 weekly intervals consisting of lunch and dinner meals. Every food stuff was measured by weighing scale, recorded as units of grams, then calculated the calorie, carbohydrates, fat, and protein content using nutrisurvey program. The composition of macronutrient was showed as mean/median and distribution (SD, range). We used SPSS version 21 for all analysis. The mean calorie of mayo diet was categorized low 703.59±73.99 kkal/day according for the purpose weight loss. The composition of carbohydrate (C), fat (F), and protein (P) were 38,23±16,05%, 37,44±10%, and 24,28±6,27% respectively. Macronutrient composition of mayo diet is classified to low carbohydrate high protein and moderate fat. The diet is similar to atkins diet (minimize carbohydrate intake without fat restriction) and zone diet (macronutrient balance 40-30-30 for C-F-P respectively)
that based on epidemiological study can reduce body weight significantly. Mayo diet in catering Kartikasari Surabaya applied dietary extrim calorie restriction-induced weight loss and had macronutrient composition similar to some popular diets. It is needed to provide breakfast meals-customized calorie so that this diet can be recommended
correctly to reduce body weight.
